Low Riding FestoonWhen unwinding paper before the splice diameter is reached, the moving rollers in the festoon run approximately 3 feet above the floor. This minimizes web span related problems such as wrinkling and web weave. It also allows a high speed panic stop rate without subjecting the core to excessive torque which can sometimes cause roll-to-coreshaft slippage. Just before the splice, the festoon slowly rises to the top allowing full use of available storage. Excess Tape TrimExcess tape is trimmed utilizing dual rotary cutters. Incorporating the servo controlled sidelay, the parent material is not cut during the trim process allowing full use of the web. Splice HeadSimple, easy-to-prep splice head guaranteed no overlap of webs at splice joint. This totally eliminates impression problems and jam-ups caused by partially lapped splices. During splice cycle, leading edge of new web is automatically trimmed and removed to assure a precise, zero-gap butt splice. The primary splice tape is always applied to the top side of the web. An optional second-side tape applicator is available.
